Beautiful New Zealand near Arthurs Pass.

New Zealand - North Island and South Island.

Touring North Island and The Coromandel then crossing over to South Island with it's beautiful mountains, thermal areas, glaciers, lakes and beaches.

One question straight away could be when is a good time to go to New Zealand for a touring holiday? - from the point of view of weather and how busy things are.
New Zealand weather is or should be at it's best as far as taking an extensive touring holiday from mid November on as this pretty much co-incides with the start of their Summer. The thing about going in November is that not only should the weather be reasonable but this is still a little before the New Zealanders start their own summer holidays so things generally are not too busy.
The variety of topics below describe a self-guided tour of New Zealand starting off by a flight into Auckland and then driving south stopping for a few days at both Thames (and going up to look at parts of the Coromandel) and then down to Taupo before ending up at Wellington for the ferry over to South Island after around 2 weeks.
This tour continues by heading South down the West Coast via Motueka, Arthurs Pass, Franz Josef, Queenstown, Te Anau, Dunedin and ending up at Christchurch.
